Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini issued an Islamic religious decree, known as a “fatwa,” demanding Rushdie's death in 1989. Read More Iranian Charged for Plot Against Former National Security Advisor John Bolton Shahram Poursafi, 45, a member of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), is accused of attempting to pay individuals in America to kill former national security advisor John Bolton. - Poursafi attempted to hire assassins as retaliation for the Trump administration’s assassination of IRGC Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani.
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was reportedly also a target of the Iranian assassination plot. Poursafi is likely living in Tehran. Gunman Dies in Shootout With FBI - Ricky Shiffer, 42, was killed following an attempt to breach the FBI’s Cincinnati field office.
- Shiffer was armed with a nail gun and an AR-15-style rifle when he tried to breach the FBI office.
