On Tuesday, Pres. Joe Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law – passing the strongest climate legislation in U.S. history.
The Inflation Reduction Act is historic. It will make our future cleaner and brighter.
This legislation sparks a new era of clean energy investments – promising a cleaner, healthier future. Its extensive investments in climate action and clean energy put the U.S. on the path to cut climate pollution by 40 percent by 2030. And for us in Wisconsin, the Inflation Reduction Act means more affordable energy, good-paying jobs, cleaner air, and a stronger economy.
With around $4 billion of unprecedented funding, Wisconsin can build a clean energy economy. The investments and tax credits from this legislation will create thousands of jobs across solar, wind, energy storage, and other clean energy industries – and that’s not even the best part.
By transitioning to a clean energy economy, we will cut pollution and improve air quality. A clean energy economy in Wisconsin means lives saved and a healthier, safer future for generations to come.
While this is an incredible climate package, there are some provisions which increase oil and gas leases and leave some communities vulnerable to pollution. We will work with our partners to ensure that no community has to fight those alone. And, we will let you know how you can help.
