Dear Friend,
It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly a year since the fall of Kabul. And I want to thank people like you, who stepped up in support of the historic evacuation of close to 76,000 Afghans to the United States.
- You sent messages to your representatives advocating for our Afghan neighbors.
- You donated generously to support the newly arrived Afghans.
- You filled warehouses with household items to provide families the comforts of home.
- You volunteered in their communities.
- You shared prayers and messages of support.
Because of you, LIRS played a lead role in advocacy and the resettlement of our new Afghan neighbors. And this monumental effort took all of us working together — and I simply can’t thank you enough.
But there is still much work to be done. Can I count on you to help?
Many Afghans who arrived through the evacuation are still struggling to find meaningful employment. Some are doctors, lawyers, or engineers by training, but cannot work in their desired field because of professional certification requirements.
Fortunately, the LIRS New American Cities program offers career navigation services and connections to employers and opportunities.
SUPPORT REFUGEES AND IMMIGRANTS HERE >>>
Your generosity powers all our work — including New American Cities, ensuring newcomers have the support needed to find employment that benefits themselves, their families, and the entire community.
And so today, will you honor the brave Afghans and all those seeking safety in the U.S. by giving to LIRS?
I genuinely appreciate your kindness and all you do for those seeking safety and hope.
Sincerely,
Krish O’Mara Vignarajah
