Hi Friend, My name is Kaitlin, and I’m writing to tell you about why I’m supporting Antonio Daza for Congress. As a long-time resident of Woodstock, I grew up in GA’s 11th district. I live here with my husband, Brett, and I’m a teacher at our local middle school. This is my home, and I care about what goes on here in my community. I also have a new reason to be invested in the wellbeing of my neighborhood – my husband and I just welcomed our first child. Something you should know about me is that I am a worrier. As a teacher, I worry about the safety and comfort of my students – I want them to have an environment where they can learn and thrive. Now, as a mother, I worry about the world that my daughter will grow up in. I want my daughter to be safe in school. I want her to be able to thrive in our community. I want her to be able to go to college. I want her to grow up in a world where she feels safe, respected and capable of achieving anything. But today, I don’t feel like that is the world that my daughter has entered. Every day on the news there is some horrible headline from way too close to home – school shootings, the Supreme Court taking women’s rights away, stories about how the economy is in shambles… The list seems endless. I don’t like calling myself a Democrat or a Republican. To be honest, I don’t really like politics at all – it always seems like you have to pick between corrupt people who are out of touch and don’t actually care about us at all. But under our current leadership, it has gone too far for me and my family to ignore. Our current representative, Barry Loudermilk, is just the kind of politician who makes me hate politics. He sits in DC and doesn’t care about the struggles that the people back in Georgia are facing. When he got involved in all the insanity of January 6, that was the final straw for me. Leaders like Barry are not keeping us safe. They are not helping moms like me raise our kids in a safe and healthy environment. They don’t care about me and my fellow teachers, who are struggling under the weight of low wages, limited budgets, and the fear of losing our jobs over the ridiculous censorship rules that Republicans are supporting. That is why this year, I am supporting Antonio Daza for Congress. I believe that Antonio really cares about the worries that I have. He isn’t a politician who lives in the Washington bubble – he actually gets what I am talking about. And unlike the sleazy politicians I see on TV, he is actually a really nice guy. Antonio gives me hope for the future of our politics and our country. I trust that he has our interests at heart, and that he is the best person to represent us in Congress. With someone like Antonio in our government, I think I’ll be able to worry a little bit less.
