A Conversation with Dean Strang and Roy Austin We are pleased to announce that Roy Austin will be joining Dean Strang for this conversation! We still have seats available - if you haven't already gotten your tickets, reserve your spot today! Dean Strang and Roy Austin will discuss Strang's new book: Keep the Wretches in Order: America’s Biggest Mass Trial, the Rise of the Justice Department, and the Fall of the IWW. In it, he details the fascinating story of the largest mass trial in American History against labor activists during World War I, and its impact shaping the modern Department of Justice. To prevent work stoppages during the war, the DOJ embarked on a sweeping effort – replacing the gunmen and state militias that would break strikes in the past, with lawyers. Wisconsin Attorney Dean Strang became a household name when his representation of Steven Avery was featured in the Netflix miniseries Making A Murderer. He is an experienced defense attorney and author of numerous books and essays. Roy L. Austin is a partner with the law firm of Harris, Wiltshire & Grannis LLP, where he practices trial litigation. Previously, Mr. Austin served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights Division of Obama's Department of Justice. This event will be on Tuesday, July 30 at Kramerbooks. Doors open at 6 PM. Refreshments will be provided. Books will be available for purchase and signing. | |
