John,

After Chesa Boudin’s recall in San Francisco, we have been on high alert
for our other District Attorneys who could be targeted next by
billionaires, Republicans, or even moderate Democrats — anyone who wants
our DAs and their bold work for justice and accountability out of office.

A recall campaign began against DA George Gascón in Los Angeles — and this
week they FAILED. MISERABLY.

Hundreds of thousands of signatures they gathered in their effort were
invalid or just plain phony. The recall won’t be on the ballot.

Now we need this rejection to get the national attention it deserves
because this proves that Chesa’s recall was not the end of our movement.
Far from it!!!

But here’s the thing: these recall efforts aren’t going to stop anytime
soon. Conservative billionaires were emboldened by Chesa’s recall, because
they realized that it’s possible to build these campaigns using an
unlimited amount of resources.

[ [link removed] ]So PLEASE, can you fund our fight to defend our DAs? We are seeing
attacks against our bold leaders in Philadelphia, Virginia, New York, and
other cities and need to be ready at the drop of a hat to jump into action
to defend the work they are doing, and their entire office if opponents go
on the offensive.

In a statement, DA Gascón said he was grateful “to move forward from this
attempted political power grab — rest assured L.A. County, the work hasn’t
stopped. My primary focus has been & will always be keeping us safe &
creating a more equitable justice system for all.”

This is what makes me the most angry. Progressive-minded DAs’, like
George, ONLY goals are to transform a system that has been unjust for as
long as I can remember.

And these recall efforts take away time and focus away from the REAL work
his office is doing. They are just a way to slow down the incredible
progress we are making.

What happened in LA is proof that the people refused to give in to their
lies. Because of that, they weren’t able to build the kind of propaganda
machine seen in San Francisco.

This gives me SO much hope that if we have the resources, we can continue
fighting against these opponents waiting in the wings to recall or vote
out our DAs who are doing SO much work towards justice and
accountability.

But to do that, we need your help. There will be more recalls, impeachment
attempts, suspensions, and more against our DAs and we need to be ready to
defend them at a moment’s notice. That means having resources already
available and prepped.

I’m begging you. I can’t bear to see what happened in San Francisco happen
again — and Los Angeles proves we don’t have to. [ [link removed] ]Make a donation so we
can continue to defend our DAs against these kinds of attacks.

Love and appreciate you,

Shaun
