Just in case you missed it, folks — the Washington Post recently endorsed the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act, bipartisan legislation I introduced alongside Senator Roy Blunt: More than one-third of fish and wildlife species are at risk of extinction in the United States. We’ve got to handle this issue with the urgency it requires — and the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act fits the bill. This critical legislation is gaining momentum — it’s already passed in the House and is sponsored by 36 Senators. The sooner we pass it in the Senate, the sooner we can ensure states, territories, and Tribal nations have the resources to fund wildlife conservation efforts and prevent more species from endangerment.
By the time a species has been classified as endangered, it’s often too late to bring back the robust numbers needed to save them from extinction. We need preventive measures to keep them off the endangered list in the first place. That’s where the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act comes in.
From Bison to bumblebees, we can preserve thousands of species for generations to come. Thanks for making your voice heard. — Martin
