Dear John,

Ballots are pouring in around the state for the primary election on Tuesday, Aug. 23. But we need to make sure that our fellow members and colleagues are casting their ballots as well.

Voting is so critical that Saturday, Aug. 20, we are hosting an Educators Vote: Day of Action. In addition to local actions across the state, FEA is hosting a phone banking Power Hour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. EDT. Join us! You can click here to register.

Educators and activists have been calling hundreds of their colleagues to remind them to cast their ballots, but time is running short. In addition to Saturday, we'll also be meeting this afternoon and Monday. You don't need to stay the entire time, though you are welcome to do so. We want to be sure we provide people with plenty of time to make calls and help get out the vote.

We Need to Hear From You

We all know that low pay, lack of respect and a massive teacher and staff shortage are taking their toll on our profession and, ultimately, the education of our students. We can start to address these issues if we vote for public education-friendly candidates. But we also need to make sure that those who aren't in the classroom every day, seeing the effects of bad policy, hear directly from you — the experts.

Take a minute to record yourself talking about real-life situations as a public school educator. We've set up this easy-to-use video collector tool. No app installation needed, as it works well on a mobile browser. It will prompt you with three questions that you can answer individually, and we'll be sharing these videos as they come in.

If you haven't already voted, you can vote early now through Saturday, Aug. 20.* If you are not sure where to vote or when polls are open — or if you want to make sure your mail ballot has been received — visit your Supervisor of Elections websiteIf you have any questions, please contact me or any of your local union’s officers or staff, or visit our website at feaweb.org/elections.
