John, Senate Republicans just blocked a measure to cap the cost of insulin copays at $35 a month. It's just plain wrong that in 2022 Americans have to choose between paying for groceries and paying for lifesaving medication.
As a nurse, but also just a person with compassion and empathy, I know how essential it is that we reduce the cost of insulin for the millions of American families who are struggling to afford this lifesaving medication. During my time working in a local hospital, as a children's advocate, and on the campaign trail, I've heard so many stories about the pain these prices cause families. This is an urgent problem that American families are counting on Washington to fix.
But right now, leaders in Congress care more about cashing huge checks from Big Pharma than fighting for the people they're supposed to serve. Those partisan leaders don't seem to get that the point of healthcare isn't to make Big Pharma richer – it's to serve people and help them live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
There's a lot that we have to do to fix our broken healthcare system, drive down costs, and ensure high quality care. Addressing all those issues won't happen overnight, but lowering the cost of insulin would have an immediate, massive impact for millions.
When I am in the Senate, you can count on me to make insulin and other lifesaving drugs more affordable. But until we vote out the extremists who shot down this legislation and expand our Senate majority, Mitch McConnell and his cronies are going to keep on blocking it. That's why I have to ask: Please, can I count on you to make a donation to flip Missouri blue, fix our broken healthcare system, and send a nurse's heart to the Senate? I'll only win with your grassroots support.

Together, we can send the first nurse to the U.S. Senate and win a better, healthier future for all of us.
Thank you,
Trudy
