Image description: Flyer for a rally to launch a new campaign to get UPMC to pay what it owes. Text reads "UPMC: it is time to pay what you owe. Campaign Kickoff. Friday, August 19th, 12pm - 1:30pm US Steeltower 600 Grant St.
When UPMC pays what they truly owe in taxes, we can fix our broken sidewalks or build new ones where none exist.
No matter what we look like, or what part of town we call home, we all want to make things better for our families and future generations. But for too long, UPMC - Pittsburgh’s largest employer and landowner- has extracted resources from our communities while paying back a fraction of what they truly owe, causing a ripple effect of inequities across our city.
Access to affordable housing and transit, quality childcare, healthy foods- that’s something we can all agree on. We know that when UPMC pays what they owe, we’ll all be better off.
That’s why we’re joining with several other organizations in the City to kick off a campaign to demand UPMC pay what they owe. Join us Friday, August 18th at 12:00 PM at the UPMC Tower - 600 Grant St, Downtown. [[link removed]]
When UPMC pays what they owe, we can ensure we have the resources needed to fight back against inequities in our communities. Enough is enough, it’s time for UPMC to pay what they owe and help put Pittsburghers on track for a more equitable future.
Help us launch this campaign to finally get UPMC to pay residents what they owe.
Rally tomorrow!
August 19th, 12pm-1:30pm
US Steeltower, 600 Grant Street.

Sign the petition! It's time to make UPMC pay what they owe.
Pittsburghers believe in being good neighbors and care deeply about our communities. Some of us give our all as bus drivers, teachers, or hospital workers, volunteering in our communities and with those in need. All while our biggest “non-profit” has gotten a free ride off what we contribute, withholding critical resources and costing our communities. When UPMC pays what they truly owe in taxes, we can fix our broken sidewalks or build new ones where none exist. Residents pushing strollers or using mobility devices, like wheelchairs, will no longer be forced onto the street. When UPMC pays what they owe, we can ensure that our built environment and sidewalk infrastructure allows all transit riders, regardless of self-mobility concerns, to safely and comfortably get to and from bus stops.
UPMC doesn't own this city. Enough is enough.
When we make a wealthy corporation like UPMC pay what they owe, we will have funding for the urban infrastructure all working people need. It's time for UPMC to be the good neighbor Pittsburghers deserve.
