John, It has been one fast-paced summer thus far! I am pleased to announce that our team is growing. Please join me in welcoming Nicholas Cote, our new Western Regional Organizer! Nicholas comes to us with extensive experience in the liberty movement and a strong track record of fighting for efficient and accountable government. He brings over a decade of experience with the National Right to Work Foundation, as well as experience in the death penalty abolition movement. Most recently, he worked with one of our international partners, Reprieve, and was a board member of Virginians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, where he was part of the most recent victorious repeal campaign. Momentum to end the death penalty has been building across the West. In 2019 and again in 2021, Wyoming fell just a few votes short of repeal. Earlier this year, Utah Republicans sponsored a bill that nearly passed, and County Attorney David O. Leavitt announced that his office would no longer pursue the death penalty. With the possibility of repeal alive in Nevada, and Arizona’s restart of executions after eight years, there’s never been a more urgent time to spur conservative support for ending the death penalty. While Nicholas will be based in his home state of Nevada, he’ll be working with partners across the region. So those of you who are in the West will be hearing from Nicholas, and I urge all of us to welcome him to the team! (You can contact him directly at [email protected].) Forward,
