The New Republic recently reported on the GOP's independent state legislature theory, saying that "The Next Big Threat to American Democracy Is Headed to the Supreme Court."

Other experts had even sterner warnings:

MSNBC: It is not an overstatement to say that this case could completely upend elections and erase the power of our votes for president. The Washington Post: [T]he court's endorsement of [independent state legislature theory] would ... create disarray and would enable anti-democratic power grabs. The New Work Times: Under the independent state legislature doctrine, the next time Trump tries to overturn the results of an election he lost, he won't need a mob.
