Hey there friend – I wanted to quickly touch base on this big (and exciting!) policy update that will impact your life!
Last week I was proud to vote for and help pass the Inflation Reduction Act alongside my Democratic colleagues. We came together and kept our promise to propel our nation forward with meaningful legislation and real progress – this is a big deal, and it passed on a purely party line vote.
That’s right. Not a single Republican voted to lower prescription drug prices, invest in historic measures to fight climate change, ensure that corporations pay their fair share of taxes, and extend vital provisions of the Affordable Care Act. If you believe that these are worthwhile measures worth fighting for, I hope you’ll consider contributing to Democrats like me today. [[link removed]]
And despite our successes, now is not a time to ease up. We are fewer than 3 months away from Election Day and I won’t sugarcoat it – the odds of Democrats keeping our majority and making sure the GOP doesn’t undo all the progress we’ve made are stacked against us.
It is clear, Republicans taking control of the legislature would be harmful to this country and our families. After all, some of their loudest campaign promises are:
1. To make your healthcare less affordable and accessible
2. To lower taxes on the wealthy
3. To chip away at more of our fundamental rights – and on this front, they feel emboldened in the wake of Dobbs
Such policies are dangerous and would take us backward – we can’t let that happen.
