"I’m about to sign the Inflation Reduction Act into law, one of the most significant laws in our history. Let me say from the start: With this law, the American people won and the special interests lost. The American people won and the special interests lost….And remember: Every single Republican in Congress voted against this bill. Every single Republican in Congress voted against lowering prescription drug prices, against lowering healthcare costs, against a fairer tax system. Every single Republican — every single one — voted against tackling the climate crisis, against lowering our energy costs, against creating good-paying jobs.”
— President Joe Biden
A Farewell Message from Stacey Klim
5 years ago, my family moved to Vero Beach from Washington State to take care of my in-laws. I had no idea what was in store for us, but I knew we were doing the right thing for our family. Little did I know the wonderful little community of like-minded people that awaited. After running for School Board in 2018, I was offered a job as the first Operations Coordinator for the Democrats of Indian River. The DEC at the time was progressive in thinking that for IRC Democrats to succeed in getting voters to the polls, engaging our community, moving the needle, and electing Democrats to office, we needed structure and stability. When I started on March 1, 2019, I was welcomed by a community of volunteers who had worked diligently and tirelessly for years. I was in awe of their passion and desire to change our community for the better. They, and you, are still here fighting the good fight.
Over the past 3 years, I have come to know so many of you. I feel so lucky to have been a part of your life as you have been a part of mine. Words can’t express my gratitude for everything you have done for me and my family here in Vero. I simply cannot sum up what everyone has meant to me, you will forever be a part of my life.
On Monday, we head back home to Washington State where I have accepted a position working for the Washington State Department of Education as a Foster Care Program Specialist. We are excited to return home to our mountains and my family. But as we drive away, I will be thinking of all of you and wishing you all the best. Keep working hard and keep voting. With your help and involvement, Florida has a chance. Here's to a BLUE November in Florida!

Can’t We Disagree Without Being Crude, Rude and Disrespectful?
What has happened to civility? To common courtesy? When did it become okay to display crude, and disrespectful language on signs by our homes, bumper stickers on our cars and on the clothing we wear?
I may not agree with your politics, the positions you take or the life choices you make and you may not agree with mine, but isn't it possible to disagree without being in-your-face rude and offensive? Aren't there more constructive ways to show your displeasure, express and explain your positions? How about sending a positive message to those around you, rather than a negative one? How about trying to foster an atmosphere, perhaps, where there is room for a dialogue, some discussion, rather than create animosity and ill will? No wonder people of all persuasions are angry and feel alienated.
Personally, I am repulsed by a lot of what supposedly educated, intelligent people choose to display for all the world to see, including young impressionable children. What lessons are we teaching? People are worried about the books children are exposed to. Well, what about all the crudeness and rudeness they see around them, staring them in the face from the back of the car in front of them?
It's time for it to stop. It's time to get back to civility. Pretty please?

Factual Information on Voting by Mail is Much Appreciated
A special "Thank you" to the editors of the Treasure Coast Newspapers for the in-depth, factual information provided to the public on voting-by-mail.
There has been too much misinformation circulated with, it seems, the intention of discouraging this “proven to be safe” method of voting.
Senior citizens, like myself, find it a blessing to avoid standing in voting lines. Another benefit is the time we have to look over the ballot in the unhurried comfort of home.
Again, thank you.

FEDERAL
Rep. Brian Mast and Sen. Rick Scott — both of Florida — violated the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act of 2012. Scott, estimated by Insider to be the wealthiest member of Congress, reported on Monday that he and his wife sold up to $450,000 in stock in Emida Corporation that he failed to report for more than a year after a federal deadline.

STATE
Ron DeSantis replaced elected attorney with one bringing back "Biking while Black" policy
DeSantis fired elected Hillsborough County state’s attorney Andrew Warren appointed Susan Lopez who has announced enforcement of the bike stop and pedestrian stop policy.
The bike stop law allowed police officers to stop and ticket cyclists for violating safety rules, including taking their hands off the handlebars. A 2016 Department of Justice investigation found that 75% of bicyclists stopped under the law in Tampa were Black, while only about 23% of the city’s population is Black, according to the Census Bureau.
