In just a moment, I am going to ask you to make a contribution to Mandela Barnes’ campaign for the U.S. Senate. Please let me explain why your help is so important.

After a gunman shot me in the head more than ten years ago, I lost the ability to speak and walk as easily as I once did.

But I was gifted the opportunity for a new life, and instead of focusing on what I cannot do, I’ve set tougher and tougher goals for myself.

Some of those goals I must pursue alone. Others require teamwork and the commitment of others to accomplish what most believed would be impossible.

Running for office is something no one person can do alone. Not me when I was in public service, and not Mandela Barnes.

That is especially true with so much dark money being spent against him and the margin for error in a close race that will be very small.

So he needs your help. He cannot do this alone. And with so much on the line this November and beyond, here is the part where I ask:
