John, as I reflect on the state of our democracy, I’m filled with both concern and hope.
Concern because many Republicans continue to cast doubt on the results of the 2020 election, and are using it to justify laws that restrict the right to vote and make it easier to overturn election results in states where they hold power.
But I remain hopeful because, in just a few months, we have a chance to come together and elect Democrats who will defend our democracy.
That’s why I’m asking you to help the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State (DASS) elect officials who will keep our elections free and fair. Can you chip in today to help them?
As we all saw in the last election, local officials – including Secretaries of State – are often the last line of defense for our democracy.
Republicans have already tried to undermine the integrity of our elections by redrawing Congressional district lines, and restricting the right to vote.
Now, they’re trying to undermine elections from the inside, with elected officials who are willing to tilt the scales in their favor – or even throw out the results of free and fair elections.
State by state, we’re seeing anti-democracy candidates secure the GOP nomination for Secretary of State. And the only way to protect our elections is by electing Democratic Secretaries of State instead.
Across the nation, free and fair elections are under attack.
If we want to defend our democracy, we must preserve access to the ballot box and defeat anti-democracy candidates.
