Marginalization, intimidation, and silencing conservative biblical voices--the far Left's tactics never really change.
Leftists know that American families would outright reject their radical vision for our nation if they were to learn the truth of what their pro-abortion, pro-LGBT agenda really looks like. So, they aim to suppress the truth and those who faithfully stand for it.
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has relied on this strategy for years, notoriously designating their opponents like FRC as "hate groups," alongside the likes of the KKK.
What did we and other faith-based groups do to earn this distinction?
We stand for natural marriage as between one man and one woman and hold unapologetically to a biblical worldview regarding sexual orientation and gender identity ideology.
Earlier this week, we took time as the FRC family to reflect upon the Lord's protection a decade ago when a gunman entered our headquarters. As the article by Jared Bridges we shared with you highlighted, that disturbed young man targeted us because of our presence on the SPLC's "Hate Map."
Shockingly, this corrupt organization, which has been riddled with internal scandal, continues to hold sway with liberals in the media, Congress, and the White House despite being linked in federal court to the domestic terrorist attack on our staff.
President Biden even nominated the SPLC's former strategic litigation director, Nancy Abudu, to be a federal judge for the Eleventh Circuit! FRC's reporting has raised the alarm on her troubling connections, thankfully resulting in conservative lawmakers refusing to rubber stamp her confirmation as they seek answers regarding her qualifications and concerning bias.

Stand with FRC
As you know, the attempts by leftists to intimidate and silence conservative voices go far beyond the SPLC's smear campaign.
In another blast from the past, liberals in Congress who don't appreciate our unwavering stand for biblical values are dusting off their playbook and calling for the IRS to investigate the tax-exempt status of religious organizations, specifically FRC!
The hostility to religious organizations operating in accordance with our deeply held religious beliefs has grown in recent years.
So in 2020, to protect our right to pursue our faith-based mission and to more accurately reflect our work as a ministry equipping pastors and churches nationwide, FRC made the prayerful decision to apply for an association of churches non-profit status. Based upon a lengthy application process, the IRS granted us the status.
FRC continues to maintain the highest levels of financial accountability. We readily comply with all the accountability requirements associated with our membership in the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).
And while non-profits classified as an association of churches do not have to file a 990-tax form, we at FRC have continued to voluntarily file our form 990s, which are made public by the IRS. We choose to take this unnecessary action to preserve transparency and ensure proper stewardship of the resources that partners like you have entrusted to us.
These facts don't matter to the radical Left.
In mid-July, a George Soros-funded journalism group, ProPublica, published a hit piece about Family Research Council's tax classification. The article was filled with misleading statements.
Of course, what Left-funded agitators write is not of much concern to us since there are so many of them. But now liberals in Congress have seized on their mischaracterizations of FRC!
On Monday, August 1, 40 Congressional democrats sent a letter to U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and IRS Commissioner Charles P. Rettig, urging them to launch a review.
As I explained in a statement to the Christian Post:
"This is an egregious abuse of power. The Democratic Party's attempts to silence religious organizations, with whom they disagree, will not stop with FRC. If their targeting of FRC succeeds, they will turn their efforts towards churches that also teach and preach biblical truth. This is not speculation. Since September 2019, House Democrats have sought to eliminate the tax-exempt status of Christian groups that they deem 'hate groups.'"
The efforts of leftists to weaponize the IRS and other government agencies against Christian organizations will continue.
Just look at the so-called "Inflation Reduction Act" the Senate recently passed that calls for spending $40 billion on hiring 87,000 new IRS agents, essentially doubling the agency's staff.
"Democrats want to make the IRS larger than the Pentagon, the State Department, the FBI, and the Border Patrol combined," complained Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas).
Given how the IRS targeted conservative organizations during the Obama administration years, it's clear what this will lead to.
But make no mistake, FRC will not be silenced. Will you stand with us in this critical hour?

Are these intimidation tactics really any different than the desperate actions totalitarian regimes like the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) use to eliminate free speech and religious freedom to maintain their stranglehold on power?
If you dare to step up and speak out for freedom, they will try to marginalize, threaten, and punish you. I know this personally since the CCP sanctioned me in March 2021 for my work calling out their human rights violations, especially their oppression of religious minorities like the underground Christian church and Uyghur Muslims.
The SPLC labeling us a "hate group" ... leftists in Congress calling on the IRS to investigate us ... the CCP sanctioning me ... What do these very different groups have in common?
They oppose God's Word and truth, and that's why they see FRC as a threat.

God's Word never changes. And neither will our resolve to remain faithful in standing for biblical truth no matter the consequences.
