Hi Jay,

Too many companies in the creator economy don't put creators' needs first.

Just ask Em Connors, founder of The Creative Bodega. When she launched her first course using a WordPress plugin, none of her students could log in on the first day.

She couldn't figure out what was happening. There was no support team to talk to. Desperate googling and scouring Facebook groups yielded no answers.

"It was a nightmare," Em told us. "I don't think my heart rate has ever been higher."

Every creator deserves creator-friendly tools. Fewer nightmare experiences, lower heart rates.

To help understand what to look for — and what to avoid — when considering platforms, we asked for advice from 5 creators: Em Connors, Becky Mollenkamp, Adrian Dalsus, Khe Hy, and Emily Mills.

What else can you do to protect yourself from creator-unfriendliness?

Don't rely on one social media platform for your income, says Jonathan Longnecker of Tiny Shiny Home — since they can change the rules at any time.

"That’s why we don’t just make videos but also products that go along with them, the community, and other sources of revenue that we own," Jonathan explains.

Best,
