This month, Social Security turned 87. This past weekend, I was out knocking doors and celebrating this landmark Democratic legislation that protects seniors from slipping into poverty and homelessness to this day.

Nearly a century later, Republicans like my opponent Ann Wagner are still trying to get rid of it. They have gone on record stating they’re in favor of gutting Social Security. They’ve tried, over and over again, to defund the program so that hard-working young people won’t have access to the same retirement security and dignity that people my mother’s age have been able to rely on: 

ALL people deserve to live with dignity. I’m running for Congress to make sure of it.

Ann Wagner has an alarming record when it comes to funding our critical social safety net and earned-benefit programs like Social Security. She also consistently votes with drug companies, and against lowering drug costs for seniors—exactly what big pharmaceutical companies have given her nearly a half million dollars to do.

When I go to Washington, I won’t be working for massive corporate super PAC donors. I’ll fight for all the seniors and working people in this district who deserve basic dignity even after we’re no longer able to work.
