Republican leaders of anti-voting groups recently held a “gourmet dinner” to discuss my voting rights litigation. These groups are part of a constellation of anti-voting groups and activists on the right that work to restrict voting. Many are run by election deniers who helped former President Donald Trump in 2020, while others are led by competent operatives like former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr.
In my latest piece, “A Constellation of Anti-Voting Groups Threaten Democracy,” I highlight the groups’ concerted effort to undermine democracy. What's notable about these groups is that they work closely with Republican legislators to generate the most effective voter suppression policies, and when those laws are challenged in court, they step in to defend them. After Trump was defeated in 2020, his team fought dozens of times in court — and lost. We didn’t give up then, and we certainly aren’t giving up now.
Be sure to tune in to Twitter Spaces tomorrow to hear me talk more in depth about these anti-voting legal groups. [link removed]
Let’s keep up the fight,
Marc
