Media Outlets Rush to Rename “Inflation Reduction Act”

Fox News: Twitter users took several media outlets and reporters to task for no longer using the term “Inflation Reduction Act” to describe the massive spending bill President Biden signed into law on Tuesday. As the bill came closer to being signed into law, more media outlets began referring to it as a “climate and health” bill instead, citing nearly $369 billion going toward investments in “Energy Security and Climate Change” (Fox News). CNN’s Chief White House Correspondent, Kaitlan Collins: Sen. Manchin is here at the White House for President Biden’s signing of the climate, tax and health care bill (Twitter). More examples of relabeling the bill. Associated Press: Biden signs massive climate and health care legislation (Associated Press). New York Times: Biden Signs Climate, Health Bill Into Law as Other Economic Goals Remain (New York Times). NBC: Biden signs major climate, health care and tax bill into law (NBC).

Liz Cheney Ponders a 2024 Presidential Run

Being rejected by her state is not enough; she is thinking about being rejected by the entire GOP. National Review: Representative Liz Cheney admitted Wednesday that she is “thinking about” running for president in 2024, hours after losing the Republican primary for Wyoming’s only House seat to Trump-backed Harriet Hageman in a landslide. Asked about her career plans by the Today show’s Savannah Guthrie, Cheney was initially coy. But, when pressed again, Cheney admitted a presidential run was on her mind (National Review). Today Show: “I’ll make a decision in the coming months.” — Rep. Liz Cheney said about possibly running for President (Twitter). Katie Pavlich: Cheney will be out of her current job soon but has already launched a new organization to oppose President Donald Trump and hinted during her concession speech that she plans to run for the White House (Townhall). Dinesh D’Souza: Any incumbent Member of Congress who loses by 40 points in a primary isn’t ready to win the presidency any more than a tennis player who loses 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 in the first round is ready to win Wimbledon (Twitter).

Planned Parenthood Throws Record $50 Million Into Midterm Elections

Fox News: The pro-choice organization Planned Parenthood is pouring a record $50 million into the 2022 midterm elections in an attempt to elect pro-choice candidates up and down the ballot this November. In a press release Wednesday, Planned Parenthood announced its massive midterm spending plan and the launch of its new electoral spending program, “Take Control,” following the Supreme Court’s June decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, making way for the states to place stricter restrictions and bans on abortion. The organization announced its funds “will be strategically used to elect abortion rights champions across the country who are critical to protecting abortion access in a post-Roe world” (Fox News). Daily Wire: Indeed, midterm election outcomes in many state legislature and gubernatorial races could allow Republican lawmakers to pass more abortion regulations (Daily Wire).

Smith & Wesson Defends Second Amendment Amid “Unjustified Attack on Firearm Industry”

Fox News: Smith & Wesson took to Twitter to hit back at politicians and the media for suggesting that the gun manufacturer – and not the policies they support – were responsible for rising crime rates nationwide… The company argued that cities with soft-on-crime policies and the strictest gun laws are the same ones suffering from violence (Fox News). Smith & Wesson Inc.: Amid an unprecedented and unjustified attack on the firearm industry, Smith & Wesson President & CEO issues strong statement (Twitter). Midterm Adjustment: TikTok to Restrict, Label Political Ads

Hill: TikTok will label all content related to the midterms and crack down on paid influencer political ads as part of its plans to prepare for the upcoming elections, the company announced Wednesday. The popular video sharing app will label content identified as being related to the elections and all content from accounts that belong to governments, politicians and political parties in the U.S. (Hill). New York Post: While TikTok has banned paid political ads since 2019, campaign strategists have skirted the ban by paying influencers to promote political issues. The company seeks to close the loophole by hosting briefings with creators and talent agencies to remind them that posting paid political content is against TikTok’s policies, said Eric Han, TikTok’s head of US safety, during a briefing with reporters (New York Post).

Fire Whites First: Minneapolis Public Schools Refuse to Back Down Despite Criticism

Washington Times: Minneapolis Public Schools is defending its agreement with the teachers’ union to lay off White instructors ahead of less-senior minority faculty, saying the terms are needed to fix “past discrimination.” The district issued a Tuesday statement after coming under criticism for language in its latest collective-bargaining agreement that requires schools to make a racial exception to the first-in, last-out seniority system on staffing cuts spurred by enrollment declines. “To remedy the continuing effects of past discrimination, Minneapolis Public Schools and the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers (MFT) mutually agreed to contract language that aims to support the recruitment and retention of teachers from underrepresented groups as compared to the labor market and to the community served by the school district,” the district said in an email (Washington Times). Daily Wire: If that sounds familiar, it is because it is nearly identical to the advice from one of America’s most “preeminent” Critical Race Theory hucksters, Dr. Ibram X. Kendi. “The only remedy to racist discrimination is antiracist discrimination,” Kendi wrote in his seminal book, “How To Be An Anti-Racist.” “The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination,” he added. “The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination” (Daily Wire).

44 Percent of Pregnant Women Miscarried After Receiving Pfizer Vaccine

American Greatness: More than 40 percent of pregnant women who participated in Pfizer’s mRNA COVID vaccine trial suffered miscarriages, according internal Pfizer documents, recently released under court order. Despite this, Pfizer, and the Biden administration insisted that the vaccines were safe for pregnant women. Out of 50 pregnant women, 22 of them lost their babies, according to an analysis of the documents… The FDA and CDC could conceivably claim they were unaware of high rate of miscarriages in the trial because Pfizer attempted to obscure the data (American Greatness). Will Witt: According to Dr. Naomi Wolf, who runs a crowdsourced project to analyze 300,000 Pfizer documents released via a FOIA request, 44 percent of pregnant women who participated in the drug maker’s COVID-19 vaccine trial lost their babies (Twitter). Florida Standard: On its website, the CDC still recommends that pregnant women get vaccinated: “COVID-19 vaccination is recommended for all people 6 months and older. This includes people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to get pregnant now, or might become pregnant in the future” (Florida Standard).

CDC Vows Internal Overhaul to Repair Reputation

Hill: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky said Wednesday that the agency “did not reliably meet expectations” and would overhaul its operations after an external review found shortcomings in the COVID-19 response. The review, begun in April, comes after the CDC faced heavy criticism for its stumbles both in the early days of the pandemic and more recently, with critics pointing to confusing guidance and slow responses (Hill). Politico: The CDC restructuring follows two reviews conducted in recent months, one by Health Resources and Services Administration official Jim Macrae into the CDC’s pandemic response and another by CDC Chief of Staff Sherri Berger into agency operations. Specifically, Macrae’s review, which included 120 interviews with CDC staffers and people outside the agency, recommended a series of improvements, including releasing scientific findings and data more quickly to improve transparency, translating science into practical and easy-to-understand policy, improving communication with the public, working better with other agencies and public health partners, and training and incentivizing the agency’s workforce to respond better to public health emergencies (Politico).

China’s participation in the joint exercises was “unrelated to the current international and regional situation”, the ministry said in a statement (Reuters).
