Sherrod Brown - Senator from Ohio [[link removed]]
I’m proud of the good work we’ve done in the Senate in recent weeks. From lowering prescription drug and energy costs to creating good-paying manufacturing jobs, the impact of these measures will be felt by Ohioans and Americans for years to come.
We sent the Inflation Reduction Act to President Biden’s desk to lower prescription drug prices for seniors and make health care premiums more affordable. It’s also the biggest effort to fight climate change in U.S. history. And we get it done by making sure corporations pay their fair share and reining in stock buybacks that fatten executives’ bottom lines at the expense of American workers and American jobs.
We got the CHIPS Act to President Biden’s desk, too. It strengthens semiconductor manufacturing and creates thousands of jobs in Ohio.
We delivered on the PACT Act, a measure to expand access to benefits for veterans who have been exposed to toxic substances while serving our country. These veterans have waited too long for urgently needed health care and benefits. This bill fixes that by removing the hurdles vets had to jump to get the benefits they’ve earned.
We also passed the first gun-safety law in decades to protect our communities from gun violence. The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act strengthens background checks, takes new steps to keep guns from domestic abusers, and bolsters mental health resources so we can keep our schools, parks, places of worship, movie theaters, grocery stores -- all of the places in our communities that have become targets of violence -- safe.
I want to hear from you: Will you take a second to tell me which of these measures will have the biggest impact for you, your family, and community? [[link removed]]
