Let me explain:
Most medical associations agree that conversion therapy–a form of "therapy" meant to stop LGBTQ people from being LGBTQ–is an extremely harmful practice. Studies show that LGBTQ+ children who undergo conversion therapy are more likely to experience mental health challenges, like suicidaility, depression, and anxiety.
Conversion therapy endangers young LGBTQ+ people's lives. And I am so proud of our governor for taking steps to ban this harmful practice from our home state.
John, as an ER doc, I take my oath to "do no harm" very seriously. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that any "therapy" that harms young people the way that "conversion therapy" does is unethical and has no place in any treatment setting–period.
My opponent, in contrast, has voted in public office to keep conversion therapy legal in Allegheny County. These are the values differences that are at stake in this election.
I am committed to joining Governor Wolf in advocating for Pennsylvania's LGBTQ+ population in the state House–but to get there, I need your help. Will you support my campaign with a donation of any amount today so can send a champion for LGBTQ+ rights to Harrisburg?
To Governor Wolf and all the advocates who made yesterday's Executive Order a reality: Thank you for your service.
To our LGBTQ+ supporters, please know: I am on your side. It is an honor to fight with you for a better Pennsylvania.
Sincerely,
Dr. Arvind Venkat
