Hey -- I know you're busy. And I know a lot of people don't have time to sit down and watch a 2 minute video. But I really hope you'll watch this one:
Watch then donate >>
A few weeks ago in Iowa, I told the story of my visit to a small town called Choteau in 2015. This was during the peak of the GOP's assault on the Affordable Care Act.
Choteau is a town of 1,700 people. The whole town knew I was coming because the Koch Brothers were nice enough to send a mailer to everyone warning that 'Bullock and Obama are coming to steal your healthcare.'
I showed up anyway. And instead of telling everyone in that room what I thought they needed, I listened.
A hospital administrator said 43% of the people who come into his hospital didn't have health insurance.
The chair of a nearby county commission said the local hospital saved his life when he had a heart attack. He said if that hospital closes, they'd lose his whole town.
Those conversations convinced a local Republican legislator to defy her party, defy the Koch Brothers, and vote to expand Medicaid.
That's the type of story I'm going to tell on the debate stage next week. A story about how when we show up and listen more than we talk, we can make real progress for all Americans.
But I need your help to keep telling these stories. We still need 130,000 donors to secure my spot in future debates. If you think I deserve a spot on stage, will you please donate today?
