Dear friends,
California should prioritize housing for people, not cars. We’re closer than ever to passing legislation that would eliminate expensive parking mandates across the state – mandates that worsen climate pollution and drive up the cost of new housing.
Will you make a quick call to your State Senator in support of AB 2097 and help end expensive, polluting parking mandates?

Unsurprisingly, the opposition is already mobilizing against AB 2097 ahead of a decisive vote in the State Senate. We need your help to flood Senators’ offices with supportive calls – and help ensure the bill’s passage before the August 31 deadline.
AB 2097 (Friedman) will reduce housing costs and slash climate and air pollution by eliminating expensive parking mandates on new homes built near high-quality transit. Studies show parking mandates can add $40,000 or more per parking spot to new projects, driving up the cost of housing.
This year, AB 2097 not only made it out of the Senate Appropriations Committee – it’s now co-authored by that committee’s chair, Senator Anthony Portantino, who worked with Assemblymember Laura Friedman to craft a version of the bill that stands a good chance of passing the State Senate.
And that has opponents freaked out. They’re mobilizing their own networks to call Senate offices hoping to derail AB 2097 before the legislature adjourns on August 31. We can’t let that happen.
Constituent calls make a huge impact in Sacramento, especially when a bill is ready for a floor vote. A final vote could happen as soon as next week, and your voice could help play a decisive role in convincing your State Senator to support its passage.
So, if you’re excited about ending California’s affordability crisis and bringing down the cost of homes, now is the time to raise your voice in support of AB 2097.

Thank you so much for your advocacy, energy, and passion.
Together, we will end California’s housing shortage.
Gratefully,
Rachel
