Growing up, Alexandria didn’t see many women like her in positions of
leadership. As she said:

“When you’re only seeing white dudes just like, running the world, you
think you need to act like a white dude to run the world. The problem is
that mold wasn’t made for you. And so even if you try the hardest at being
that, you will not be as good as someone who is just that already.”

Alexandria has made it her goal to be authentically herself, because she
wants to show people that there are other ways of being powerful in the
world.

For Alexandria, being herself means everything from sharing her democratic
socialist views, to wearing red lipstick in a place where there aren’t
many red lips.

She knows that one way that we can really change leadership is by being
ourselves as we are.
