John,

Last week, as I was about to take the debate stage, I filed a lawsuit on behalf of bartenders at the US Open who were cheated out of tens of thousands of dollars in tips.

You can read more about the case here: [[link removed]]

Bartenders working concession stands at one of the biggest golfing events in the country brought in tens of thousands of dollars in tips — tips that the food service company they were hired by tried to steal from them.

I’ve seen this kind of behavior before. I've represented bartenders and waitstaff across Massachusetts who had their tips taken from them. I recovered more than $3 million from this same company back in 2008 for employees in Boston. I’ve sued plenty of hotels, restaurants, and country clubs for trying to pull the same type of stunt.

And I’m ready to get into the Attorney General’s office and keep making sure that corporations like these are held accountable to treat their workers with the respect they deserve. Will you chip into this campaign now so I can keep up the fight?

John, this wasn’t an accident or an oversight. These companies know better — they bring in billions of dollars each year from events in Massachusetts and around the country.

The issue isn’t that they don’t know the laws. The issue is that they think they’re above them.

These corporations have proven time and time again that they’re not going to follow the law and protect and pay their workers a fair wage out of the goodness of their hearts — that’s why we need true fighters to hold them accountable and enforce the laws.

I’m not waiting until I get into the Attorney General’s office to do that. Make no mistake, being a practicing labor lawyer while running this type of campaign isn’t easy.

But it’s worth it because at the end of the day, I know that I’ve done everything I possibly can to fight for the working people who need a champion in their corner.

As your Attorney General, I will fight just as hard for you as I am for the bartenders I’m representing in court. Will you make a donation to help me get there?

In solidarity,

Shannon Liss-Riordan
