Last week, as Americans combat a recession and 40-year high inflation, Democrats doubled down on their failed policies — indisputably wreaking more havoc on Biden’s broken economy by passing their $740 billion tax and spend bill. It’s unconscionable that Democrats are burning through billions on liberal projects, contributing to our skyrocketing national debt, and burdening Americans with tax hikes amidst numerous economic crises. Additionally, the Democrats’ irresponsible legislation militarizes the Internal Revenue Service with an auditing army of 87,000 new agents to target middle-class Americans and small businesses. 

Time and time again, Democrats in Washington prove their priorities lie with Big Government Socialism — not the American people. I totally reject the radical Green New Deal initiatives, crushing tax hikes, and partisan wasteful spending that consume Democrats’ Build Back Broke bill, and I fiercely condemn President Biden, Speaker Pelosi, and Senate Leader Schumer for selfishly plunging our economy into deeper turmoil at the expense of the American people. In addition to voting against this terrible legislation on behalf of the Ninth, I railed on the Democrats’ reconciliation bill during debate on the House floor. As I’ve shared with you, I remain committed to holding all individuals involved in the unjust raid of President Trump’s personal residence accountable. While Republicans are partially restrained due to being in the minority, my colleagues and I are eager to provide the American people with the answers they deserve. 

Last week, I joined my Republican colleagues on the Oversight and Reform Committee in sending a letter to the Acting Archivist of the United States, Debra Wall, seeking information to understand the National Archives and Records Administration’s (NARA) role – if any – in the FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago. Specifically, we demanded a briefing on the matter, as well as the preservation of all documents and communications related to the FBI’s warrant. The FBI and NARA’s actions toward President Trump raise legitimate concerns and questions surrounding the Biden Administration’s nefarious intentions. Rest assured, I’m fighting for answers and accountability, and Oversight Committee Republicans are laser-focused on fully investigating this egregious witch hunt.

Earlier this month, Gainesville resident Frank Hoell celebrated his 100th birthday with friends and loved ones. Originally from St. Louis and a graduate of the University of Missouri, Mr. Hoell courageously served our country in the U.S. Army in both World War II and the Korean War. Frank was married to his college sweetheart, Gloria, for nearly 70 years – boasting three children, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. In addition to sharing wonderful memories, Frank and his late wife loved to travel and see the world together. Mr. Hoell’s inspiring life story serves as an important reminder that each and every day here on Earth is a precious gift from God. I’d like to thank Mr. Hoell for his service to our great nation and wish him a happy belated 100th birthday!
