Today is National Nonprofit Day, a day to acknowledge the role nonprofit organizations play in our neighborhoods. The need for nonprofits has increased dramatically, as communities continue with efforts to rebuild after a global pandemic. Thanks to the generosity and dedication of our supporters, ECPAT-USA has led the movement to prevent child sexual exploitation. Together, we have made much progress in protecting all children from trafficking:
- More than 700,000 students have engaged with the Social Identity Quest, a program developed to challenge the way teens think about their behaviors online;
- In July, we launched an updated anti-trafficking training for the hotel industry with our partners at Marriott International and the AHLA Foundation. The e-learning program, Recognize and Respond: Addressing Human Trafficking in the Hospitality Industry, is available for free on our site now;
- Our Public Policy team has continued to advocate for the reauthorization of the Trafficking Victims and Protection Act (TVPA), including working with Congressional offices to ensure this year's bill includes provisions to prevent child trafficking victims from being prosecuted for crimes they may have committed while being exploited.
We couldn't have reached these milestones without you, and our upcoming Freedom Awards event will be a special moment to celebrate our child protection programs and leaders in the anti-trafficking movement. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to keeping kids safe.
