Research shows that for people trapped in autos that start on fire or sink in water, they have only about 30 seconds to get out alive.

"And you should forget about breaking a window with your fist or elbow", Pierce said. "It can't be done. Tempered auto glass and seatbelts are very strong and require a special tool like the LifeLine."
