In 2017, he was elected to the Las Cruces City Council with over 70 percent of the vote. As a council member, he helped deliver millions of dollars to create and improve local parks, worked diligently to update the district's infrastructure, and remained focused on crafting policy specifically aimed at creating jobs and growing the local economy.
