THE HEARTBEAT BILL IS STILL IN EFFECT!

Yesterday, Fulton County Superior Court Judge McBurney dismissed the Abortionists’ motion for a temporary restraining order. Georgia’s Heartbeat Bill remains in effect and Georgia is still protecting the unborn!

What Does That Mean?

After Georgia’s Heartbeat Bill was upheld by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals; SisterSong, along with Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers and supportive groups, filed a challenge to the law at the State level claiming that it violates Georgia’s State Constitution. Along with that challenge; they requested that the Court not allow the Heartbeat Bill to remain in effect while the case proceeded. Yesterday, the Judge denied their request. Georgia’s Heartbeat Bill remains in effect and babies are still protected under law.

Is The Challenge Over Now?

No. This ruling simply means that Georgia’s Heartbeat Bill may remain in effect while the abortionists and the State of Georgia continue to litigate the case.

What Exactly IS The Challenge?

SisterSong, along with Planned Parenthood and other local and national abortion activists, are challenging GA’s Heartbeat Bill claiming that, when the bill was signed into law, it was in violation of the United State Constitution. They further claim that the Right to Privacy found in the Georgia State Constitution is much more broad and *does* include the right to abortion; whereas the Supreme Court found that the Right to Privacy found in the United State Constitution does not provide for a right to abortion.

What Happens Next?

Now, the case proceeds and The State of Georgia, represented by our Attorney General Chris Carr, will defend our Heartbeat Bill and fight to continue protecting preborn babies. If you would like to get involved in this area of the fight, click here.

What the Heartbeat Bill does:

• Babies are recognized as people under law

• The population count will now include preborn babies

• Women can now obtain child support for babies in the womb

• Parents can now receive state tax exemptions for preborn babies

• Babies with beating hearts are protected from abortion in most circumstances

• Post-abortive women are protected from prosecution under law

• Miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy care are exempted from abortion law

THIS FIGHT IS FAR FROM OVER. OUR ENEMY HAS ENDLESS LIES AND FINANCIAL BACKING TO CONTINUING ATTACKING THE SANCTITY OF LIFE AT EVERY STAGE. CONSIDER HELPING US FIGHT BACK BY PRAYING, FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING, VOLUNTEERING, AND SHARING EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES.

Pray for safety for the Judge and parties to the lawsuit pending in the Fulton County Superior Court, pray for GLA as we continue supporting our pro-life lawmakers and representing the pro-life movement in the media, and pray for pregnancy centers who are already coming under attack by abortion activists.

2. DONATE to GLA. Chip in to help us end abortion in Georgia once and for all. GLA has led the fight statewide to pass and protect the Heartbeat Bill and support candidates who will protect it.

3. SUPPORT your local pregnancy center and adoption/foster agencies. They need your generous donations and your prayers to answer the demand for services as the Heartbeat Bill goes into effect.

4. CALL your pastor and ask them to speak about the sanctity of life this week, host a prayer rally, and support pro-life groups like GLA and local pregnancy centers.

5. ENCOURAGE pro-life lawmakers and candidates who are going to be pressured by liberals and the media to back down. Let them know you have their backs now and in November.
