Dear Friend,
We all care deeply about reproductive health access, and while the fall of Roe has left devastating impacts in the U.S., this concern should not be limited to our national borders. That is why Population Connection Action Fund has invited experts from sub-Saharan Africa to discuss what the implications of this U.S. decision will be for their communities. Join us for this important conversation on August 23 at 12 pm ET to learn more.
My colleagues who will be joining us for this discussion know first hand the harm caused by restrictions to reproductive health and rights. They’ve witnessed how barriers to accessing health care and basic, fundamental rights are so deeply damaging to the communities whom they work with. Knowledge is power; engaging in this type of conversation is the first stride towards making a difference. The better understanding we have of these critical issues, the more able we will be to translate our care into action and even recruit others to do the same. Your support is critical in this fight! |
We have an incredible opportunity to hear from devout activists for women’s rights and reproductive health of varying professional backgrounds. Dr. Enu Beula Otsyina has an academic background in global health, and much of her work is with youth populations to ensure access to education and safe abortion services. John Mbugua also specializes in youth advocacy, specifically through community-based initiatives. We will also gain the perspective of a renowned human rights lawyer, Stephanie Musho, who fights for safe abortions and sexual health rights. Together, they will provide us with a well-rounded understanding of the most precarious reproductive health issues to be faced by sub-Saharan Africa after the fall of Roe.
We look forward to having you join both this conversation and our greater movement to defend abortion access for everyone, everywhere. You can pre-submit questions for our speakers when you register ahead of time. We expect this to be a rich discussion, so don’t miss out!
See you there, Melvine Ouyo (she/her)
