** Partner Resources and Updates
------------------------------------------------------------

Dear allies,

This week’s newsletter includes a webinar on the CTC from the Coalition on Human Needs, helpful resources regarding food assistance from the San Diego Hunger Coalition, and a funding opportunity from AmeriCorps for programs working on public health. Keep on reading to learn more.

** Coalition on Human Needs Webinar: Help Families Claim the 2021 Expanded Child Tax Credit
------------------------------------------------------------

August 30, 2022 @ 2pm ET

Nearly 90% of kids in the U.S. became eligible for the Child Tax Credit when it was expanded in 2021. While tax season has passed, families can still claim the full 2021 CTC - up to $3,600 per child. They can file easily on their own through the simplified filing portal, GetCTC.org, before mid-November. After that, they can claim the CTC by filing full tax returns.

Please join us for a webinar in English & Spanish on why CTC outreach is still important. We’ll share CTC updates and information on utilizing GetCTC.org, and hear from community partners about how they’ve helped families claim the CTC.

Our partner, the San Diego Hunger Coalition, put together this incredible resource to provide their community with the tools to connect people to available food assistance resources in San Diego County. Their website offers information on 5 different food assistance programs, and includes information flyers in 12 different languages!

The 2023 grants competition prioritizes programs working to address community public health needs, including health inequities exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic, and is open to nonprofit, faith-based, tribal, and community-based organizations; higher education institutions; state, local, and territorial government entities, including local public health departments.

The application deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, 5 p.m. ET. We encourage you to share with organizations in your community that may be interested in becoming part of Public Health AmeriCorps.
