John,
Congressional Republicans are furious that Democrats have passed a bill that takes on the greed of Big Oil and Big Pharma while delivering for working people and seniors. They know how popular this new law will be when voters learn what’s in it, so they’re spreading disinformation, falsely claiming that the Inflation Reduction Act will raise taxes on working people and small businesses (it won’t!).

The Inflation Reduction Act was just signed into law by President Biden.
It lowers prescription drug prices for millions of Americans by allowing Medicare to negotiate prices for some costly drugs and caps Medicare recipients’ out-of-pocket prescription drug costs at $2,000 a year.[1]
The law fights the climate crisis and lowers energy costs for millions of Americans― investing in renewable forms of energy like wind and solar and enabling the U.S. to reduce carbon emissions by 40% below 2005 levels by the end of this decade.
It keeps healthcare more affordable for 13 million Americans by extending healthcare subsidies through the Affordable Care Act, saving people an average of $800 a year in premiums.
The Inflation Reduction Act is fully paid for through Medicare prescription drug savings, catching wealthy tax cheats, and a 15% corporate profits minimum tax so that billionaire corporations like Amazon, FedEx, and Nike don’t get away with paying little to nothing in federal income taxes on billions of dollars in profits.
The law significantly increases funding for the IRS so it serves taxpayers better and enables it to better crack down on rich and corporate tax cheats who evade paying what they owe in taxes.
No one making less than $400,000 will pay more in taxes or be more likely to be audited by the IRS.

Together, we’ve been fighting for the last year and a half for a tax and investment plan that makes the rich and corporations pay a fairer share of taxes. Thanks to you, we’ve made it happen.
Now, let’s defend this new law and help sell it to the American people.
