Friend -
No one has ever called Wyoming a bellwether for anything outside of bronc riding and hunting gear — but what happened in Wyoming’s primary on Tuesday is part of a scary trend that is turning red states orange.
I’m not going to hold back here: we should all be extremely worried. The day a Cheney loses in Wyoming is the day pigs fly. I’m pretty sure that was a bumper sticker in the 80s. We are in real trouble here. Pigs are flying. Trump apologists, aka those who endorse his love of proud boys, are winning.
I’m not asking for your donation. I’m begging.

I grew up in Wyoming. In fact, I grew up just a few miles from Trump-loving Harriet Hageman, the new Republican nominee for Wyoming’s one and only Congressional seat, who will easily beat her Democratic opponent, Lynnette Grey Bull, in November. Our elementary class even went on school outings to Hagemen Cattle Ranch. (There’s not a lot to do in south east Wyoming.)
My family are life-long, staunch, progressives. They have been registered as Democrats all their lives and never once backed down — even when they felt threatened or lost friends or family. This primary, some of them temporarily switched parties in order to vote for Liz Cheney — that’s a big deal. They made this hard decision because they believe we are losing our democracy. They believe that Liz Cheney was the last bastion of hope for Wyoming … and all of us.
They might be right. We need donations immediately. [[link removed]] This is bad.
We cannot let the orange spread …
Sincerely,
Dc Lozano
California Political Director circa Wyoming
PS: Fun fact: the term bellwether comes from the 15th century. A bell was placed around the leading sheep of a flock so herders would know what direction it was headed in. If you know anything about Wyoming history you know that cattle ranchers and sheepherders had deadly wars. For now, it seems, the sheep have won.

PowerPAC is a social justice organization that strategically directs financial and human resources to local and state organizations working to deliver wins in legislative fights, ballot initiatives, and more. For years the money we've raised has, dollar for dollar, been given back to the communities we work with. We've made sure that your investments were being used to build power for our communities because too often we are underrepresented and ignored.
