Let me tell you why this is so important:
The Aglands Preservation Program preserves farming land for future generations. That means that farmers sell their development rights–not their land–to the Delaware Agricultural Lands Preservation Foundation. Basically, the Foundation pays farmers to conserve their land and continue to farm it.
Agriculture is the number one industry in our state. Programs like this bolster our economy by incentivizing farmers to conserve the land for future farmers.
But that's not the only reason I'm so proud of this program. All Delawareans–future residents included–deserve access to fresh, local food. The Aglands Preservation Program ensures that our communities have access to Delaware grown food while keeping jobs in agriculture around for generations to come.
This was a monumental step for our agricultural preservation efforts–and we're just getting started. In Fiscal Year 2023, the state budget will double the funds we have to endow agricultural lands.
It has been an honor to be part of this process–and I hope I can continue serving you through projects like this for years to come. But to continue my role as Treasurer, I need your support today.
John, will you make a donation of any amount to my reelection campaign today and help us get one step closer to another four years in office?
Thank you so much for being on my team. I couldn't do any of this without you.
With gratitude,
Treasurer Colleen Davis
