Hey John,
My name is Sophia Escobedo and I'm proud to be the new Organizing Director for Mayor Lightfoot's reelection campaign!
Me on the left, the Mayor on the right, and an awesome member of Team Lightfoot in the back!
I've spent years working as an organizer in Chicago. In that time, I've talked to a lot of folks, taken on a lot of battles, and suffered my fair share of defeats. Throughout all of my organizing experiences, there are a couple things that will always remain true. One, there's never a bad time for Stan's Donuts. (Kidding! But seriously, I have yet to encounter one.) Two, making meaningful change is never easy, but it is always worthwhile. Three, we are never more powerful than when we come together in the fight for a better city.
I've seen how grassroots organizing can help power a tidal wave of change. Will you become a part of that network by donating now?
$5 buys water and a snack for a volunteer >>
$10 gets us 20 clipboards to collect signatures >>
$20 pays for flyers, pamphlets, and other canvassing materials >>
$50 allows us to get matching shirts and hats for our team >>
$100 helps us organize events to reach voters >>
This is why I came to work on Mayor Lightfoot's reelection campaign. She's guided us through a global pandemic, taken on political corruption, invested in our historically underserved communities, and brought together coalitions from across the city. And I know that this is just the start.
On August 30th, our campaign will start collecting signatures to qualify for the ballot. We'll need as many volunteers — and signatures! — as possible.
Thanks for taking the time to read this!
