Dear Friend,?
As a mom, I know how hectic the beginning of a new school year can be. There are new clothes to shop for, bus routes to figure out, and of course school supplies to buy. And all those glue sticks and markers add up! Families should be able to enjoy these last summer weeks without worrying about spending too much money out of pocket on school supplies. ?
*That?s why I?m putting forward the **MI Back to School Plan* [ [link removed] ]*, which includes a proposal to temporarily suspend the sales tax on school supplies. *?
This plan will save Michigan families money on school supplies, help educators save on classroom expenses, and equip kids with everything from paper and pencils to crayons and computers. ?

I will work with anyone to lower costs, cut taxes, and help our kids thrive. Last month, I signed a bipartisan education budget?my fourth?which made the highest state per-student funding in Michigan history. I urge the legislature to join me in building?on this progress as we get ready for the next school year by enacting the MI Back to School Plan. ?
Sincerely,?
Governor Whitmer
