Hello Friend,

Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.

Opposing high taxes and excessive spending

Image

The Biden administration's excessive government spending is the major driver behind the record inflation we face today. Instead of cutting back, congressional Democrats have doubled down on more federal spending. They called Congress back into a special session to pass H.R. 5376, the Inflation, Recession, and IRS Army Act. This bill—which was pushed through on straight party lines—will raise taxes, double the size of the IRS to target hardworking Americans, and further increase inflation during a recession with hundreds of billions in new spending for Green New Deal initiatives. It wastes taxpayer money and will not address our inflation problem, which is why I voted against it. Click here to read my full statement.

In the News

  • Franklin and GOP colleagues demand answers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA): Last week, I joined my House Oversight GOP colleagues in demanding answers regarding the unprecedented raid of former President Trump’s home. • Franklin and colleagues call for more data amid consideration of Red Snapper fishery closures: Red snapper is an important economic driver for the South Atlantic region. Yet despite growth in the red snapper population, the fishing season is still extremely limited. Last week, I joined 29 of my colleagues in a bipartisan, bicameral letter asking National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Administrator Richard Spinrad to suspend further consideration of area closures in the South Atlantic until data from the ongoing South Atlantic Great Red Snapper Count can be integrated into management decisions. Click here to read the entire letter.
