Q&A on monkeypox

Dear friends,

Make no mistake: The current monkeypox outbreak was preventable, and it can only be stopped with swift action.

Speed is essential to stopping an infectious disease, but the United States government waited a full month to order vaccines and testing is hard to find globally.

Dr. Marta Lato, PIH’s cross-site clinical advisor, is here to share how the same patterns of stigma, discrimination, and lack of access to lifesaving medical care are taking place today, just as she saw in Sierra Leone during the 2014 Ebola outbreak. She has answers to the following questions and more:

* How do we spread awareness about this disease while also fighting against stigma and discrimination?

* How is the issue of vaccine equity showing up with monkeypox?

* How do you see the global response to this developing—what's the next chapter, and how do you see PIH being part of that?

See how centuries of injustice are making the current monkeypox outbreak worse and what we all must do to achieve equity and stop the spread >> [[link removed]]
