Reclaiming diversity, equity, and inclusion in the education system <[link removed]> - Parental choice in education also guarantees every student an equal opportunity to learn and succeed. Leftist activists have perverted equity to mean equal outcomes, regardless of personal behavior. But school choice is the true equalizer. Giving families more educational options means children from disadvantaged backgrounds will no longer be bound by their zip codes or financial status. They will have the same opportunities as others to move to a school that better fits their needs. Finally, the future of school choice can only be forecast as inclusive. West Virginia policymakers adopted an education savings account proposal in 2021 that allows nearly every child in the state to apply for an account. In Arizona, Gov. Doug Ducey just signed a similar expansive proposal that gives every Arizona child the same opportunity. Lawmakers in Iowa <[link removed]> and Texas <[link removed]> are on the verge of adopting similar policies. This is what inclusion should look like — not mandatory racial affinity groups <[link removed]> or policies that allow only children of a certain ethnicity to use the playground <[link removed]> at certain times. Activists have corrupted and institutionalized the ideas of diversity, equity, and inclusion. School choice will allow us to reclaim these terms and offer students a diversity of ideas and equal opportunities that include everyone. That’s the kind of education parents can trust for their children. Heritage Expert: Jonathan Butcher <[link removed]>
The Mar-a-Lago Raid: What Happened and What’s Next <[link removed]> – Now that the search has been executed and the documents have been seized, there are likely to be many months of wrangling ahead between the Justice Department and Trump’s attorneys. Ultimately, the Department of Justice will decide whether to file charges against Trump, which would be yet another unprecedented action that would involve trying to untangle many knotty factual and legal questions, only some of which are outlined above. The public has a lot of questions about whether the Justice Department and the FBI have, in fact, been wielding their vast power in a politically partisan manner, and they deserve to get answers to those questions. Minneapolis teachers union agreement stipulates White teachers be laid off first, regardless of seniority <[link removed]> - The Minneapolis teacher union contract violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution. You cannot discriminate between employees based on race or ethnicity. Remarkably, the union contract follows the ideas of Ibram X. Kendi’s book, How to be an Antiracist by saying that the purpose of the policy is to remedy “past discrimination” with present discrimination—admitting that they are being racially prejudice. Students need high quality teachers, regardless of skin color or background. Student achievement suffered during the pandemic, and educators should be trying to help every child succeed in school in and life and not follow a radical racial agenda that violates state and federal civil rights laws. Biden Dismisses Voter Fraud, but His Justice Department Keeps Prosecuting It <[link removed]> – The Biden administration’s Justice Department successfully prosecuted election fraud cases last month in Pennsylvania and Louisiana, even as the president has spent much of his term so far asserting that voter fraud is a myth. Federal prosecutors in individual U.S. attorney’s offices also have brought separate cases in Arizona, North Carolina, and New York during President Joe Biden’s administration. At the same time, though, Biden ratcheted up rhetoric against state reforms aimed at preventing voter fraud. Late last year, the White House issued a press
release <[link removed]> touting plans to “restore and strengthen American democracy” and improve “voting rights.” Part of that effort by the Biden administration included “combating misinformation and disinformation” that could “sow mistrust” in
elections. Heritage Expert: Fred Lucas <[link removed]>
Inflation Reduction Act Shows Far Left’s Extremism and Elitism <[link removed]> – As American families are struggling with inflation not seen in over 40 years, Democrats passed legislation that would likely only <[link removed]> make inflation worse. And they had the audacity <[link removed]> to call it the “Inflation Reduction Act.” That’s not just extreme and out of touch, it’s insulting to
Americans. The major spending <[link removed]> in the bill is about more than just dollar signs. It’s also about the choice that politicians make between allowing families to keep their hard-earned money or using the force of government to compel Americans to hand those dollars over to the federal government in the form of taxes. And force is a key issue with this legislation. The bill would radically expand the enforcement capacity of the IRS to collect taxpayer dollars, raising enforcement funding by 69 percent <[link removed]>. The left apparently thinks the public is just clamoring for the powerful IRS to have far more power. And they think Americans will believe that politicians wouldn’t use this new and more powerful IRS to target opponents, despite its <[link removed]> history <[link removed]>. Heritage Expert: Daren
