Biden Officially Signs Inflation Reduction Bill
Daily Wire: President Joe Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law on Tuesday, a move heralded by the Biden administration as a huge win and by Republicans as a devastating loss… The legislation passed the United States House of Representatives and Senate last week, allocating $740 billion toward Internal Revenue Service (IRS) funding, Affordable Care Act subsidies, green energy subsidies and tax credits, and more ( Daily Wire). CBS: Despite its name, the extent to which the bill will help lower inflation remains to be seen. A model from Penn Wharton says the bill won’t measurably affect inflation, and the Congressional Budget Office called the impact on inflation “negligible” this year before helping lower inflation in later years ( CBS). RNC Research: TAX HIKES: The Bidenflation scam will increase taxes on hardworking Americans. “The supersized IRS is going to be getting about $20 billion in new revenue by auditing people that make under $400K a year” ( Twitter).

Liz Cheney Loses Seat to Trump-Endorsed Harriet Hageman
Insider: Former President Donald Trump strengthened his grip over the Republican Party on Tuesday evening with Rep. Liz Cheney’s primary loss in Wyoming. Harriet Hageman, a Trump-endorsed lawyer, defeated Cheney ( Insider). Townhall: Again, such a result is very much expected. Poll after poll showed Hageman ahead of Cheney, with a poll earlier this month from the University of Wyoming showing her trailing by nearly 30 points even. As one of Trump’s biggest foes, Cheney’s primary race has been a particularly exciting one to watch. She was particularly vocal about voting to impeach Trump in January of last year, with his Senate trial not occurring until he had already left office. Her anti-Trump crusade became such a distraction to her party, that she was removed from her position as House Republican Conference chairwoman in May of last year, and was replaced by Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), who still holds the position ( Townhall).

Trump Popularity Among Republicans Spikes Due to FBI Raid
Washington Examiner: Former President Donald Trump’s favorability has increased since the FBI raid of his Mar-a-Lago estate last week, according to a poll. Results from a Morning Consult/Politico survey have shown the raid further energized Trump’s supporters, expanding the former president’s lead over Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) by 10 points with an overall lead of 40 percentage points, if the primary election were to take place today ( Washington Examiner). Morning Consult: Trump’s improvement has come to the detriment of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, whose 2024 support has slumped 5 percentage points since late July, to 16%. Similarly, a record-high 71% of GOP voters say that Trump should run for president in 2024 ( Morning Consult).

CBS Evening News Alleges FBI Did Not Take Trump’s Passports
Daily Wire: Is the legacy media ever embarrassed or angry that it consistently gets fed false information — and repeats it verbatim — in order to push anti-conservative narratives, or does it enjoy being a mouthpiece for the government? Monday evening, CBS’ Norah O’Donnell implied that the Department of Justice (DOJ) did not take former President Donald Trump’s passport — contrary to his claims earlier in the day ( Daily Wire). Taylor Budowich: The evening anchor was once the pinnacle of journalism, but clearly @NorahODonnell is intent on changing that. After 16 hours and a TWITTER FACT CHECK, this massively viral and dishonest tweet stands ( Twitter).

Ukraine Special Forces Strike Ammo Depot in Russia-Controlled Crimea
Washington Post: Ukrainian special forces struck deep inside the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula for the second time in less than a week on Tuesday, blowing up an ammunition depot and also possibly an air force base, according to Russian media and Ukrainian government officials ( Washington Post). Wall Street Journal: Russian officials also blamed sabotage for the explosions at the ammunition dump, at a disused farm near the village of Maiske, which left two people with minor injuries. Authorities on the peninsula, which Russia’s military seized in 2014, evacuated more than 3,000 people from a 3-mile zone around the depot and stopped trains on the nearby train line, which sweeps up from the eastern edge of the peninsula to the Ukrainian mainland ( Wall Street Journal).

Biden Forgives Additional $4 Billion Dollars of Student Loan Debt, Bringing Total Up to $32 Billion
Daily Wire: The U.S. Department of Education announced Tuesday that it would cancel about $4 billion in the remaining 208,000 federal student loans for borrowers who attended ITT Technical Institute from 2005 until the for-profit college chain dissolved in 2016. Officials said the debt forgiveness comes after the department reviewed extensive internal records, testimony from ITT managers and recruiters, and first-hand accounts from borrowers allegedly defrauded by the quality of the institute’s programs ( Daily Wire). NBC: The Education Department said the Biden administration has now canceled $32 billion in loans for students “whose institutions took advantage of them,” as well as for public service workers and disabled students ( NBC).

Britain’s Royal Air Force Begins Rejecting Applications From White Men to Meet Diversity Goals
They do not care about your ability to do the job just as long as you look a certain way. Daily Mail: Job offers to white male recruits of the RAF have effectively been paused to meet diversity targets, defense sources have claimed. Women and ethnic minorities are reportedly being favored in recruitment drives to meet ‘impossible’ targets, which has prompted the Head of Recruitment at the RAF to resign in protest. The officer, a female herself, left the post amid concerns that hiring restrictions could undermine the strength of the service, according to sources ( Daily Mail). Sky News: The defense sources accused Air Chief Marshal Sir Mike Wigston, the head of the RAF, of appearing willing to compromise UK security at a time of growing threats from Russia and China in pursuit of albeit important goals such as improving diversity and inclusion ( Sky News).

Germany Reconsidering Closure of Last Three Nuclear Facilities in Wake of Energy Crisis
Wall Street Journal: Germany plans to postpone the closure of the country’s last three nuclear power plants as it braces for a possible shortage of energy this winter after Russia throttled gas supplies to the country, said German government officials. While temporary, the move would mark the first departure from a policy initiated in the early 2000s to phase out nuclear energy in Germany and which had over time become enshrined in political consensus. The decision has yet to be formally adopted by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s cabinet and would likely require a vote in Parliament ( Wall Street Journal). Daily Caller: The three nuclear plants are expected to be kept operating until Dec. 31 as Germany faces a shortage of natural gas that is being exacerbated by Russian cutoffs and because the plants pose no danger to the public, the WSJ reported. “The reactors are safe until Dec. 31, and obviously they will remain safe also after Dec. 31,” a senior German official said. A spokeswoman for the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection denied the reports about the decision to keep the plants open in a Tuesday press release ( Daily Caller).

Governor DeSantis Focuses on Veterans and First Responders to Address Educator Shortage in Florida
FL.gov: Governor Ron DeSantis announced three proposals for the 2023 Legislative Session that will help support and grow Florida’s teaching workforce and leverage the talents of Florida’s retired veterans and first responders. The proposals include a recruitment initiative targeted to bring retired first responders and retired veterans to the classroom through fee waivers and bonuses; an apprenticeship program that provides bonuses to teachers for mentoring aspiring teachers with an associate’s degree to gain hands-on teaching experience; and a scholarship program for K-12 teachers interested in teaching dual enrollment courses on high school campuses ( FL.gov). Washington Examiner: The goal is to fill areas in need such as science, exceptional students’ education, and reading. Those approved will receive a bonus of up to $5,000. “We are not going to let this state descend into some type of woke dumpster fire. We’re going to be following common sense. We’re going to be following facts, and that’s really important,” DeSantis added. This proposal is expected to be taken up by the state legislature in the next session. ( Washington Examiner).

Dodge to Drop Iconic Muscle Cars as Part of Transition to EVs
CNBC: Dodge will discontinue its gas-powered Challenger and Charger muscle cars at the end of next year, marking the end of an era for the brand as it starts to transition to electric vehicles. Since being resurrected in the mid- to late 2000s, the Charger and Challenger — names made popular in the 1960s and 1970s — have been stalwarts for Dodge and popular vehicles for a new generation of gearheads ( CNBC). Insider: The automaker simultaneously announced a forthcoming lineup of seven gas-powered “heritage-influenced” commemorative models for 2023, saying it was “seizing the opportunity to celebrate in true, over-the-top Dodge style.” Tim Kuniskis, Dodge CEO, said: “We are celebrating the end of an era — and the start of a bright new electrified future — by staying true to our brand.” He hinted that the Challenger and Charger names could reappear on electrified versions of the future ( Insider).
