The Sacramento Bee:
“BONTA [SECURES] $15.5 MILLION RENTAL FURNITURE SETTLEMENT, FENDS OFF REPUBLICANS”
Team, in a moment I’m going to ask you to chip in to my campaign – but first, I want to tell you about a major recent win for California consumers.
Earlier this month, we announced a settlement of over $15 million against one of the nation’s largest rent-to-own companies for bad business practices that left consumers paying more than they should.
Under the terms of this settlement, Rent-A-Center will pay the vast majority of that money in restitution to California consumers.
Even more importantly, they’ll have to end the deceptive, illegal tactics they used to pad their own bottom line at the expense of folks relying on them to furnish a home.
I’m committed to defending Californians from corporations that illegally harm consumers, putting people over corporations at every turn.
But national Republicans are eyeing this race, and if they get their way, we could end up with an Attorney General more interested in catering to wealthy corporations than protecting Californians from predatory business practices. I need your help to win – will you pitch in to my campaign right now?
Thank you,
Rob Bonta
