The Inflation Reduction Act has officially been signed into law! This Act will lower healthcare costs and provide working families with the relief they need, and its climate provisions will also benefit generations to come.
The IRA includes $4 billion dollars to combat climate-driven drought. Given today's news that the federal government will impose even deeper cuts on Arizona's use of the Colorado River, this investment could not come at a more important time.
According to this plan, Arizona will lose 21% of our current Colorado River use, which is more than twice of what is expected from Nevada and California. While Arizona is doing more than our fair share, we have no choice but to keep pushing until our water future is fully secure.
In Congress, this will be one of my top priorities. We must manage our drought preparedness and build on the investments of the Inflation Reduction Act.
