We’re excited to close out season two of Civics for the Culture by recapping an easy refresher topic — the different branches of our Federal Government, and how we, the people, can hold them accountable.

Watch the latest episode here, and if you can, please make a contribution to help create more content that empowers young Black and brown voters to take a leading role in our democracy. [[link removed]]

In this episode, I go into detail explaining the powers of each branch of government — Executive, Legislative, and Judicial — and how their role affects our everyday lives as Americans.

Personally, I believe we don’t think often enough about the Judicial branch. The Federal Judiciary is the only branch not elected by the people, and they serve a lifetime once they’re appointed. And for decades, Federal Court decisions have had dramatic real life consequences on our democracy and our lives — this June, it was a Supreme Court ruling that ripped away nationwide protections for reproductive rights, and in 2015, it was one vote alone on the Supreme Court that made it possible for marriage equality to be the law of the land.

But there’s one important group that holds the government accountable that we can’t forget — we, the people. If we demand accountability and vote for leaders that share our values and interests, we can ensure a country that works for all of us — in all three branches.

These Civics for the Culture videos are a huge part of our voter education programs — to ensure that young people of color have the information they need to take ownership of our democracy and make lasting change. And supporters like you make it possible to sustain programs like this. If you can, please watch our video here and chip in $20 or anything you can to help power our work for this critical election and beyond. [[link removed]]

Thank you so much for another successful season!
