Cori's bill will help target funding directly to the communities most affected by environmental injustice.
Great news, John — Senator Ed Markey and Cori's bill, the Environmental Justice Mapping and Data Collection Act, passed the House on Friday as part of the Inflation Reduction Act.
While there's more work to do, the Inflation Reduction Act is the biggest climate bill we've passed to date, and Cori's bill will help target funding directly to the communities most affected by environmental injustice.
Thanks to Cori's commitment to ensuring racial justice and environmental justice go hand in hand, the Inflation Reduction Act will fund and create an interagency committee to develop detailed neighborhood maps of environmental risk factors including air quality, fossil fuel infrastructure, and police violence. This data will help ensure St. Louis and communities like it receive the climate investment they need.
We're proud of this progress and Cori's dedication to seeing this bill passed, but we must continue our work for a clean and just future. If you're with Cori in this movement, will you chip in $5 or more immediately to help power Cori's legislating and organizing efforts to deliver needed action on climate change?

In St. Louis, there are clear signs of how people, especially Black and brown people, are hurting because of a lack of local funding and government support for climate action and environmental protection. Our children are making more and more trips to the emergency room for asthma attacks and extreme temperatures are driving up electric bills.
This is a crisis of great magnitude, and we can't wait any longer for empty legislation: We need bold solutions. That's why Cori has been a bold advocate for the Environmental Justice Mapping and Data Collection Act, a Green New Deal, and a Green New Deal for Cities — a policy that would enable community-based environmental policies.
John, Cori won't stop working to pass the bold and ambitious legislation we need to address the climate crisis, but she needs our support. Will you chip in any amount now to help Cori keep organizing to take our fight against the climate crisis to the next level?
Together,
Team Cori
