On Monday, we’ll be keeping our eyes on Duluth, as the city council takes up a vote on to ban conversation therapy. Duluth city council member – and TakeAction endorsed candidate – Gary Anderson, said it best: “So-called conversion therapy doesn’t work and is harmful to our young people.” Period.

1. With the People

The fight for medicine is just getting started. This week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed major legislation challenging Big Pharma’s power. The story-behind-the-story is the Congressional Progressive Caucus flexing their power to pass a stronger bill that reins in drug prices. Read the news here.

2. Medicare for All

Health care is a human right. But the health care industry’s lobbying force is in full swing to maintain the status quo. The Intercept their influence on Capitol Hill. Read it here.  

3. In the Heights

In the Heights, a musical written by Lin Manuel Miranda about the Latinx community in the Washington Heights is being made into a movie, directed by Jon Chu, the man behind Crazy Rich Asians. And it looks amazing. Watch the trailer here.  

4. UK Elections

For the left in the UK, yesterday’s election feels like the heartbreak we know from post-November 2016 in the U.S. Like everyone else, we’re still trying to make sense of the results. Check out a couple pieces that attempt to diagnose what went wrong.
