Dear John,
This is the moment we've been waiting for: President Biden just signed into law the Inflation Reduction Act — the largest investment to combat the climate crisis in U.S. history!
Maine Senator Angus King and our members of Congress, Chellie Pingree and Jared Golden, supported this legislation and their votes helped send it to the president's desk. We want to thank them for standing on the right side of history and our planet and ensuring this bill became law.
Send a big THANK YOU to Sen. King and Reps. Pingree and Golden for supporting this historic climate bill [[link removed]] . Click here to sign the thank you card [[link removed]] .
This incredible victory was only possible because of our amazing allies and MCV members and supporters like YOU! Thousands of people took some sort of action with us over the last 18 months — petition signatures, emails, calls to lawmakers, rallies and protests, letters to local newspapers, and so much more — to get us to this moment. We simply can' t thank you enough.
So, now that this bill is law – where will we see the benefits in Maine?

These are just some of the highlights of this massive bill. Without this legislation, we would not be able to meet our goals for 2030. But this bill alone is insufficient to meet them. We will also have to pre ss forward with executive actions from the White House and especially local actions in states and cities across the nation. And we will have to continue to fight fossil fuel infrastructure — including some projects that this package will have made more difficult to fight. Some of the concessions that needed to be made in order to get this bill passed through Congress are devastating. While those concessions will likely not directly impact our state, we will continue to fight the expansion of federal oil and gas projects no matter their location.
Maine is a climate action leader and now, finally, our federal government is taking a page out of our book — so please, take a moment and sign our thank you card to the members of Maine's delegation [[link removed]] — Sen. King and Reps. Pingree and Golden — who supported this historic climate bill. Click here to sign the card [[link removed]] .
Onward,
