WOBURN -- Massachusetts Republican Party Chairman Jim Lyons responded on Tuesday to an ad campaign launched by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Maura Healey claiming she'll "cut taxes" by pointing out that Healey has never supported lowering taxes in her entire time in public office.

Healey, now in her final year as attorney general, has already gone on the record as a supporter of a controversial graduated income tax proposal that will be appearing on ballots this fall.

"Maura Healey will say anything to get elected and voters see right through this empty promise," Lyons said. "She's been a supporter for every single tax the Democrats running the Legislature have ever proposed so now we're supposed to believe she's suddenly a friend to the beleaguered taxpayer?

"Voters would be wise to not believe a single word that comes out of her mouth. The Democrats on Beacon Hill have never seen a new tax that they didn't like. Don't expect that to change anytime soon."
